OVER 30 YEARS OF INNOVATION

1987

Gamay Food Ingredients is established by Dr. Aly Gamay as the first fat-free cheese producer in the world, marketed under the name Cheese Smart.

1990

Fat-free cheese technology is acquired by Alpine Lace Brands in return for annual royalties and supply agreements for certain flavors and ingredients.

1992

Gamay establishes its dairy flavor facility in New Berlin, WI.

1998

Gamay successfully completes first shelf stable product challenge study at the Food Research Institute at UW-Madison.

Gamay partners with Colby, WI based Welcome Dairy to produce and package portion control liquid cheese pouch products.

1999

Following extensive research and development, Gamay and Welcome begin liquid cheese pouch sales and win the packaged dinner business of a major grocery chain.

2004

Gamay acquires Semco Laboratories flavor division assets.

Gamay wins strategic relationship with third party blender and co-packer and enters the Dry Sauces and Seasonings market.

 

2012

Gamay wins Supplier of the Year award from major customer.

2014

Gamay and Welcome introduce Single Serve Dipping Cups and Food Service pouches for dairy-based dips and sauces.

2016

Gamay is acquired by Welcome Dairy after nearly two decades of partnering as independent entities.

Gamay wins Supplier of the Year for major customer.

2017

Gamay wins Supplier of the Year from major customer for a second year in a row, and three of the last five years.

2019

Boston, MA based New Heritage Capital invests in Gamay and Welcome to enhance future growth potential of both companies.
